You’re engaged, congratulations!
In this post you’ll find all you need to know before the Engagement or Love Story Shoot
The engagement photo session, or what I prefer to call it the Love Story is a very popular choice for those couples who are planning on getting engaged. Or are already planning their wedding. Yay!
And this goes for you guys, if you want her to have photos of her saying “yes!”, than it’s smart to contact the photographer of your choice before actually asking her to marry you 🙂
Other option is to get engaged secretly and choose a photographer together for your Love Story Photo Session.
It could be right after the engagement, but it is also a popular choice to just get gorgeous pictures together for any special occasion.
Birthday, St Valentines, anniversary for the day you met, the options are endless. And hey, who needs a reason to make out on a pretty location?
Most of the photographers (including myself) offer a free Love Story session to those couples who’ve booked them for their wedding.
I do that to get to know my couples better, see how they feel in front of the camera and of course to give them some gorgeous images before the wedding. This is included in all my wedding packages from 6 hours and up.
GREAT TIP is to schedule the Love Story together with the bridal hair&makeup tryout. Almost all of the makeup artists offer those tryouts some time before the wedding so that you can actually see how you want her to do your makeup. You can also ask her to do something different with your hair, unlike the hairstyle that you’re having for your wedding
I always let my couples to chose a time for their Love Story, and do not photograph them on the go at the same time when they’re signing the contract, I want them to have time to prepare for this romantic escape.
So How to Prepare for your Love Story Session
Search for inspiration!
Check out Pinterest, it has plenty of beautiful examples, you can browse and see which clothes and which styling you like best. City vs Country side? Do you want to explore the beautiful architecture together, sipping latte in nearby cafes? Or do you want to dance in the wind, kiss under an ancient oak wearing some cowboy boots?
I always have some amazing locations in mind when it comes to Love Story Photography, and I’ll recommend you the best ones for the current season and weather.
Match the clothes with style
Pick a colour palette you like. Every photographer has their own style and signature colours, that’s why it’s important to chose clothes that match the style of your photographer. That’s the key to getting pictures just like those you saw in his/her portfolio, those pictures you decided to hire him/her for.
My style is delicate, airy and sophisticated. I usually work with pastel colours and soft hues.
Sometimes add stronger color accents like berry red or marine blue.
Within my portfolio you can find both enormous tulle dresses, and simple and stylish clothes – so pick what’s right for you and your style!
Art of You Dress Bar
I have a collection of dresses available for my clients, in case you want to wear some epic gown. Those are available in different sizes and colours – all of them matching my photo style perfectly.
For those who book the Love Story separately from the wedding packages, I also have one designer dress of your choice from The Wow Closet included in the price, make sure to check those out as well.
