Wedding Reminder List For Art of You Couples. One Week Left

Wedding reminder list is a great way to keep everything under control and relax as much as possible. This list is gathering everything that I need my wedding couples to know about the photography part on their wedding day.

The last few weeks before the wedding might be a bit chaotic, as well as they might be calm and stress free. And both things are totally fine!

The most important decisions and preparations have already been made, so the last few things on your “To Do” list are usually the simple ones 🙂

Wedding Reminder List one week before the wedding

Somewhere one or two weeks before the actual wedding day I email my couples this reminder list. It contains tips and reminders to both help to get rid of the last minute doubts you might have regarding photography and even some non-photography related things.

So, lets go to the wedding reminder list!

Wedding Reminder List one week before the wedding

1. Avoid the mobile phones at the ceremony

Sometimes we are so addicted to our phones that we don’t know when to stop. One of the big problems at the weddings lately are guests who try to take a picture of the bride and groom with their own camera or their mobile phone (sometimes even Ipads :D). And usually they appear from nowhere and stand right in between the wedding photographer and the couple.

And it’s a shame that sometimes they destroy a great, candid image that the wedding photographer was taking. All of that for a photo that the wedding couple will never use.

Later on, you and your future husband are declared married at the altar. You walk down the aisle, watching tears of joy, greetings and smiles of your dear guests, but instead of that, you might see a cloud of raised hands with the phones. And everybody is watching you through the screen of their phone. I swear, it’s one of the worst feelings, and is so bad for the wedding pictures as well.

So my advice is to inform the guests that you prefer them to not to use mobile devices before, under and shortly after the wedding ceremony.

Also that you have invested in a professional wedding photographer and he/she will take care of everything. You want them to enjoy this important day with you.

The photos will be delivered via an online gallery and I always make a separate gallery with guests pictures only, that you can approve and send to your guests.

2. Wedding Details

Make sure that you’ve informed your maid of honor/your sister/your mom about the wedding details that you want to have photographed. Such as:

-A copy of wedding invitations with envelope
-A copy of the Menu
-The wedding rings
-Your tiara/veil or any other head accessories
-Your wedding shoes

I recommend asking the person of your choice to gather all those items on your wedding day and put them in a box before I arrive, so that I can start  photographing right away.

The most important thing is that you don’t do it yourself. It’s your wedding day, sit back and enjoy it!

3. Wedding Cake

The wedding cake is usually served later during the evening, though many couples are starting to serve the cake right after the ceremony together with something fresh, cold and bubbly 🙂

If you decide to serve the cake later, you maybe still want some great pictures of it, and in order to do that the cake should be available to your photographer during the day. The daylight is always best for capturing the beauty of this desert.

4. The Groom

While I will be spending the most part of the morning at the bride’s room photographing the details and portraits, I will definitely sneak out to photograph the groom’s “getting ready” images as well. His details (like the bow tie, or his shoes) and of course some images of him and his groomsmen.

So just make sure he doesn’t start getting ready before I arrive 🙂

5. Feed the Photographer♡

The last but not least 🙂 Don’t forget to add an extra meal for your photographer (no need to book a place at the table, we eat somewhere in discrete)

This is important because we (photographers) are not able to pack enough food for a whole day’s work (in my contract I add the meal from 6 hours package).

We have an enormous amount of gear, backup gear and other items, and it’s a bit risky to pack food in there. We don’t either have time during the day to run back to our car and unpack the food since we are always afraid of missing some beautiful, precious moment. And the summer heat often make the packed food dangerous to consume.

You should also have snacks everywhere around you, it’s easy to forget to eat, and that’s not good for your health, especially if the wedding will be going on until very late.

So keep hydrated and eat during the day – and you’ll make it to the dance floor happy and full of energy!
